Here's The Best Alcohol To Drink For Glowing Skin

The holidays and drinking go hand in hand. There’s a cocktail waiting at every turn, from office parties to Friendsgiving, and don’t forget those sometimes stressful family holiday dinners where a glass of wine helps you deal with your Aunt asking why you’re still single. But even though we’ve learned by now that alcohol isn’t really great for your skin, we imbibe anyway.

Celebrity aesthetician Angela Caglia explains that drinking alcohol dehydrates our skin and excessive alcohol consumption can lead to premature aging, not to mention puffiness, enlarged pores, and dullness. Not exactly the holiday look we were going for this year.

So how do we keep our glowing skin that we’ve worked so hard to get? Because we’re not giving up drinking right before the holidays, that’s what January is for. It can’t hurt to find the type of alcohol that does the least amount of damage to our skin. And Caglia says that generally speaking, the clearer the alcohol, the better it’ll be for the skin. So vodka and clear tequila are less likely to wreck your complexion.

But the other thing to remember is that mixers usually have lots of sugar and salt, so if you can drink it straight, you’re better off. Caglia says tequila is best for keeping your skin glowing and it’s not linked to rosacea flare-ups, bloating, or inflammation - like our trusty wine is. So tequila it is!
