As it hits day 32 of the partial government shutdown, it appears there is no end in sight in Washington. Locally, however, some businesses are doing their best to help out furloughed workers in our area. Jon Bon Jovi’s restaurant in New Jersey, JBJ Soul Kitchen, provided free meals to workers on Monday. Federal Donuts is also offering help, offering employees of the federal government a free hot cup of coffee and donut on the house with their valid government ID. Workers can take advantage of the offer up to once a day until the government reopens. Meanwhile, many other places including 13 restaurants in Manayunk are offering discounts or free food items, like a 25% markdown on regular food items.
