Sad news for Philly’s music scene this week — the iconic Trocadero is closing for good later this spring. It’s been around since 1870, when it originally opened as the Arch Street Opera House. It then officially became The Trocadero in 1896, and has been the Troc ever since! The venue was a favorite with rap and rock artists for decades, but recently it has been facing stiffer competition from the likes of new venues like the Fillmore and The Met. Owner Joanna Pang has been telling promoters that there will be no more events after the end of May. Hopefully this doesn't mean the end for any other Philly music venues!
