Parents Are Naming Their Kids After "Game of Thrones" Characters

Well, we knew this was coming — more parents than ever are naming their kids after “Game of Thrones” characters! Social Security Administration data published on Friday shows that more than 4,500 children were given such names in 2018 (besides Jons and Jaimes, the more generic ones), which is up from 3,800 in 2017 and 3,200 in 2016.

For example, 560 baby girls born last year were named Khaleesi, and 19 were named Caleesi. 11 girls were named Cersei in 2017, though it didn’t make the 2018 list. 319 baby girls were also named Lyanna last year.

The top 5 overall were Arya (2,545), Khaleesi (560), Yara (434), Lyanna (319), and Shae (125). Check out more of the list HERE!
