"Rocketman," the story of the early years of Elton John's rise to fame, is in theaters this Friday, May 31st! Elton is describing the multi-year process of trying to get his biopic on the big screen, and says it wasn't easy. The superstar had trouble getting directors and stars attached. I hear Justin Timberlake and Tom Hardy were both up for the lead role, which ultimately went to Taron Egerton. Elton also had trouble getting studios to put what he wanted in the film. You see, it's no secret that Elton John struggled with drug addiction, in addition to bulimia, his sexuality, and his mental health, and he wanted the film to reflect all that accurately. The singer songwriter says: “This is how my life was, and I didn’t want to cover it and gloss it over.” Well, the good news is he got it all in the film. See it in theaters May 31st.
