David Henrie Discussing 'Wizards Of Waverly Place' Reboot With Selena Gomez

Disney Channel's "The Wizards of Waverly Place" - Season Four

David Henrie and Selena Gomez have a pretty good idea for a Wizards of Waverly Place reboot.

During Saturday’s (September 14) interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor revealed he and his former co-star talk about bringing back the Disney Channel show “all the time.” Henrie adds that, while their plans to reprise the Russo family of wizards have not been set in stone, “Selena and I sit and talk about what would the reboot be, and we have a whole take. We have a whole thing."

It’s been seven whole years since Henrie and Gomez, who portrayed siblings Justin and Alex Russo, wrapped the fourth and final season of the fantasy teen series — but the 30-year-old says he and the “Hands to Myself” pop star have already been envisioning its revival.

"We want to start the show like a few years later," Henrie explained to ET. "Start them off at the worst place ever so that way throughout the series you give them a nice, beautiful arch of reuniting. Start them off divided."

"Alex is a fashionista, off killing it in some other part of the realm," he continued. "Justin's, like, the principal [of WizTech] who has a family now… [Jake T. Austin's] Max has the sub shop, but it's run down. Start us all completely discombobulated and then throughout the course of the series you bring us all together.”

Henrie’s Wizards of Waverly Place pitch could very well be a possibility with Disney. After all, it was only a few weeks ago that the network unveiled its Disney+ platform, which featured reprisals for beloved series like The Proud Family and Lizzie McGuire.
