Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are skipping the Royal family’s traditional Christmas festivities at Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham estate to spend the holiday with Meghan’s mom Doria Ragland instead. The decision is rubbing some people the wrong way, including Rod Stewart.
Stewart told the Daily Mail that he was “disappointed” to hear about Meghan and Harry’s holiday plans. While the Queen is apparently on board with the couple’s decision, in Stewart’s mind, there will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate with Meghan’s mom, but not as many with the Queen, who is 93-years-old.
Sir Rod, who himself is British music royalty, says: “If I was Harry, I’d think there was plenty of time in the future to have Christmases on my own or with Meghan’s mum. The Queen’s 93. I flew around the world to be with my mum and dad at Christmas because I knew they didn’t have many left.”
Christmas isn’t the only occasion Meghan and Harry won’t be taking part in with the rest of the Royals. They’re not planning on being at Buckingham Palace when President Donald Trump comes by either. Trumps heads to London today for a two-day NATO summit, including a reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen. Kate, Prince Charles, and Camilla will be there, too.
