The Oscar field is set following the nominations, announced January 13th, with "Joker" leading the field with 11, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix....but what are the biggest Oscar snubs this time around? It turns out there are many. Taron Egerton, who campaigned like crazy for his performance as Elton John in “Rocketman,” and won a Golden Globe, did not get an Oscar nod. Jennifer Lopez did not receive a Best Supporting Actress nod for her role in "Hustlers," especially after bringing home Screen Actors Guild, Critics' Choice and Golden Globe nominations. She must be upset, as the film was the best opening film of her career and made well over 100 million...not to mention all that work she did to learn how to dance around that pole. J Lo's exclusion brought a big outcry on social media. There were no female directors nominated, most notably Greta Gerwig for directing "Little Women", and the film got several acting nominations. What gives? Very famous actors and up and coming actors with accolades for their performances snubbed. Not nominated? Robert DiNiro for the Irishman, (his co-stars and director were nominated), Awkwafina for "The Farewell," and she won a Golden Globe! Eddie Murphy was not nominated for Netflix's "Dolemite Is My Name," Nicole Kidman...not for "Bombshell," (her fellow actresses were nominated). Adam Sandler (yes the very funny) got rave reviews for playing a New York jeweler in "Uncut Gems", and there was alot of talk about Oscar, but alas, no chance for Sandler. Jamie foxx was nominated for "Just Mercy", and "Frozen 2"....what????? No nod for Best Animated film??? Nope. No Oscar gold for these would-be contenders. Guess they'll be watching the Oscars from their living room sofa. Click here to see who WAS nominated. The Oscars air February 9th at 8PM on ABC.
