He let it go and now he has to pay! But was it on purpose, or a case of not holding it in? A man in Vienna, Austria has been fined 500 euros (about $565) for breaking wind loudly in front of the cops. The Austrian capital's police force is trying to defend this very large fine for what they say was a very large blast.
The Oesterreich newspaper reported that the fine stemmed from an incident on June 5th, and that the offender was fined for “offending public decency."
On their Twitter feed city police wrote that “of course no one is reported for accidentally ‘letting one go.'” They added that the man had behaved “provocatively and uncooperatively” during an encounter with officers that preceded the incident.
Cops say the farting offender got up from a park bench, looked at officers and “let go a massive intestinal wind apparently with full intent. And our colleagues don't like to be farted at so much.”
What's out is out, but police noted that the decision could be appealed.
