Tony Danza & Alyssa Milano On Board For 'Who’s The Boss' Sequel Series

Well, this is a blast from the past!

According to a new report from Deadline, there's a Who's The Boss sequel series in the works. The beloved '80s sitcom followed widower and former pro baseball player named Tony Micelli—played by Tony Danza—who takes a job as a housekeeper for high-powered divorced businesswoman Angela Bower—played by Judith Light—and her son. He and his daughter Samantha—played by Alyssa Milano—move into the Bower residence, where Tony's laid-back personality contrasts with Angela's type-A behavior.

The sequel series is set to take place 30 years after the events of the original show's eight season run. The show will follow Milano's Samantha, who is now a single mother herself. Deadline reports Samatha will be living in the house the original series took place in. Like the original, the updated version of Who's The Boss will also explore generational differences between parents and their children, as well as depicting differing parenting styles between Samantha and Tony.

Both Milano and Danza are set to reprise their starring roles in the sequel series. Light and Danny Pintauro—who played Angela's son Jonathan — are said to be "supportive" of the new show. The powers that be hope to bring both of them back in "creative ways" in order "to work them and their characters into the show," according to Deadline. Katherine Helmond, who played fan-favorite character Mona, sadly passed away in 2019.

Not much else is known about the Who's the Boss revival at this time, including when filming is set to begin. It's expected that the show will be shopped to buyers, including streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, with the opportunity to license the original show's 196 episodes.
