In order to keep people safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has released new guidelines for how to handle Halloween.
According to ABC News from the new CDC guidelines, door-to-door trick or treating, indoor haunted houses, costume parties, and "trunk or treating" are all deemed "higher risk activities" that they say should be avoided this year.
In place of those activities, the CDC recommends that people try "lower risk activities" that include: socially distanced pumpkin carving, decorating your house, virtual costume contests, outdoors Halloween scavenger hunt, and having a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt inside with members of your household.
The CDC also adds that halloween masks are not a proper substitute for the types of masks protecting you from the virus, and that you should not wear a costume mask over a protective mask.
The guidelines come as the nation passed a grim milestone this week - 200,000 lives lost.
