Jeannie Mai Says Her Air Flow Was Blocked

Jeannie Mai is recovering from emergency surgery after being diagnosed with epiglottitis. It blocked the flow of air to her lungs, and a doctor told her if she hadn't had surgery to remove a throat abscess that grew very quickly, her throat would have closed up!

That's why "The Real" co-host had to leave the competition on "Dancing With The Stars" in a hurry.

On Monday's "DWTS," host Tyra Banks introduced a video Mai filmed from her hospital room, where Mai told the audience, "I found out that I have a throat abscess, where my tonsils and my throat had gotten so infected that it started permeating to the rest of the areas behind my neck and my ears that I had to get emergency surgery, which is why I'm here now."

Wow. While she said she was "absolutely devastated" that her journey on 'Dancing with the Stars' had to end this way, she said surgery went "great and that she was lucky to have landed in the hospital when she did." I'll bet she was.

Get well soon, Jeannie Mai.
