City of Philadelphia Announces New COVID-19 Restrictions

The city of Philadelphia announced new COVID-19 restrictions on Monday, aimed at stemming the rise of the virus.

NBC10 reports that starting Friday, indoor parties and indoor dining will cease, while fitness centers, museums, and libraries will all close. Eating and drinking will not be allowed at outdoor gatherings.

Hair salons and barbers will be allowed to continue with current restrictions in place. Retailers are allowed to remain open, but with reduced capacity (no more than 5 persons per 1,000 square feet.)

Colleges, universities, and high schools will have to all move into all-virtual learning.

This all comes as Philadelphia and the state of Pennsylvania have both seen a rapid rise of cases over the last few weeks, with Pennsylvania reporting nearly 10,000 just in the last two days, and Philadelphia topping 1,000 over the weekend in a single day.

All the new restrictions take effect Friday November 20th to at least Friday, January 1, 2021.
