Philadelphia Extends Coronavirus Restrictions Thru January 15th

NBC10 reports that Philadelphia leaders have now pushed back the expiration date for current COVID-19 restrictions in the city, saying that holiday case spikes would likely "create more stress on the city's hospitals."

The current restrictions, which include no indoor dining and closed gyms and museums, were set to expire on January 1, but will now expire January 15th.

They added that some activities could resume sooner depending on how severe the holiday spikes are. Museums, outdoor sports, and gyms could resume January 4th, but indoor dining however will fully be halted until January 15th.

Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said they were announcing the extension today so businesses had time to prepare. Farley also urged residents to only celebrate the holidays with their immediate household.
