Britney Spears' Boyfriend Breaks Silence After 'Framing Britney Spears' Doc

Sam Asghari looks forward to an “amazing future” with his longtime girlfriend Britney Spears.

"I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves," the fitness trainer, 27, told PEOPLE on Monday (February 8). "I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together."

As fans know, Spears and Asghari first met behind the scenes of her music video for “Slumber Party” in 2016. The pair sparked a love connection the following year and have been dating ever since.

Ashghari’s supportive statement for Spears comes days after the broadcast of a revealing new documentary, titled Framing Britney Spears, which aired Friday (February 5) on FX and FX on Hulu.

The 75-minute doc project includes personal statements from some of Spears’ most intimate acquaintances to New York Times journalists and photographers who recalled Spears’ rise and tragic fall from grace as the pop star struggled with her celebrity amid constant media pressure. More than that, Framing Britney Spears provided an unsettling glimpse at the controversial nature of her conservatorship, controlled by her father, Jamie Spears.

Since the documentary aired, Spears has been receiving an outpouring of love and support from not only her fans but stars like Kacey Musgraves, Miley Cyrus, and others.

“Never has one person been so used and abandoned by every facet around her,” wrote Musgraves. “My heart goes out to her. She has always been such an inspiration to me my whole kid/teen life. Wish she could get a re-do.”

“No artist today would have to endure the literal torture that media/society/utter misogynists inflicted upon her,” tweeted the Paramore lead singer. “The mental health awareness conversation, culturally, could never be where it is without the awful price she has paid.”
