Why You Should Eat A Banana Before You Go To Bed

If you eat before you go to bed, of course you should choose a healthy snack for quality sleep and good digestion. Dietitian Tracy Lockwood Beckerman has a YouTube series called “You Versus Food,” and she says a banana with peanut butter might be your best choice.

Whoda thunk it? Well, you see, bananas help your muscles relax, thanks to being high in potassium and magnesium. Most of us don't get enough of either. As for peanut butter and all nut butters, they contain tryptophan, a forerunner to melatonin, which is a known sleep aid.

Plus the carbs in the banana actually make the tryptophan more available for your brain to absorb. The dietitian actually called it a “sleep aid wonder.” Plus, I love bananas and peanut butter, so sweet dreams!
