Wendy Williams on Ellen: TV "Exposes You For The Person You Really Are"

Leave it to Wendy Williams to give her most honest and open take on everything — and she didn’t hold back when speaking about Ellen’s TV departure on her Hot Topics segment the week.

During the segment, Wendy reacted to Ellen leaving by saying that “19 years on TV doesn’t change your life — it exposes you for the person that you really are.”

Wendy’s audience, which is all her staff due to the pandemic, reacted interestingly (with mostly no reaction at all) when Wendy spoke about Ellen, including adding, “by the way, I believe she's leaving because the workplace conditions, you know, I mean, we all in this room know people who've worked at the mm-hmm, mm-hmm, and people who've worked here themsel- mm-hmm, mm-hmm.'

Wendy played a clip of Ellen saying that “every guest that comes on the show is know what a happy atmosphere this is”, and then added her take, saying “I’m not sure that all the guests are happy. I was a guest. I wasn’t happy.”

She also said that Ellen may not have even told her staff beforehand, or at least, she seems like someone who would do that, saying, “I don't know whether she told her current staff, though. She seems like the type of person that would come out onstage and announce it to everybody and people are looking at the TV as she's saying it like: "Wai-wha-wait, what just happened?"'

Wendy did have some nice words for Ellen though, congratulating her on the show lasting so long, saying, “We should be so lucky. I’m not staying all that time.” Oop!

Watch the segment below — it starts around 1:59.
